MTNL calls between Delhi and Mumbai to be local now

It’s interesting to see what competition can do for the consumers. Just a couple of years ago, getting a telephone connection was a big hassle and consumers were paying big to call someone on the other side of the country.

Times have changed. And the latest example is how MTNL is now challenging the dominating of private players in the market.

The government owned telecom firm has announced that it would charge its landline customers a mere Rs 1.20 for a three-minute call between Delhi and Mumbai. This would come into effect from June 1 and would bring joy for the MTNL customers in both these cities.

The company was charging Rs 1.90 a minute for a call between Delhi and Mumbai and the new rates are a huge bonus for their customers. This development is expected to bring a new round of price cuts from both BSNL and the private operators in the country.
