Club Internet to launch IPTV in France
Deutsche Telekom’s French Internet arm, Club Internet would soon be launching the first IPTV service in the European market in France. They would be launching this service powered by Microsoft’s IPTV technology.
This kind of service was launched in the United States last year and is a key area where the telecom companies now plan to enter in the coming years.
Elena Branet, senior marketing manager for Microsoft TV spoke about this service: “This is a big market opportunity for us. There are 1.6 billion TV sets worldwide.†Their technology would help the user watch high-definition TV, pause live TV or watch two programs at the same time and record up to 50 hours.
Branet added: “IP (Internet Protocol) TV is a hot topic for telecoms operators. They (telecoms operators) can increase their average revenue per user by offering video services in addition to voice and data.”
