BSNL aims to connect all villages by next year
Indian government owned telecom company BSNL has said that they plan to connect all the villages in the country by next year.
BSNL Chairman and Managing Director A K Sinha said in a statement that all villages in the country would be connected through ‘individual satellite telephone’ network by March 2007.
The company would be investing Rs 150 crore on connecting these 14,000 villages through their satellite telephone network.
BSNL aims to provide at least one telephone in each of these villages and would be charging nominal charges for its operations.
In addition, they would be offering ‘triple play,’ a video service on demand, internet and telephone in Chennai and Pune in two months.
