Tata Teleservices to expand in three additional circles
Reliance might be considering moving into the GSM services market, but their rivals in the CDMA market Tata Teleservices are continuing to expand their presence in the Indian market. The company aims to launch operations in three additional circles by the end of this financial year.
This expansion would boost their presence in the country with availability in 23 circles. TTSL CEO Darryl Green said in a statement on their plans: “We are planning to launch operations in three circles - Jammu & Kashmir, North East and Assam - by March 31, 2006. We intend to announce our expansion plans after receiving the mandatory approvals from the government.â€
Tata has already filed an application for this expansion with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). They are now waiting for the ministry’s approval for commencing of operations in the new circles.
Tata Teleservices also launched a range of tariff plans and handsets earlier this week. This included a new entry-level handset priced at Rs 999.
