Nokia wins a big China Mobile network deal
World’s largest mobile company Nokia has said that they have won a $150 million deal with China Mobile’s division named Henan Mobile Communication Co. Ltd.
Nokia would now help the company expand GSM and GPRS networks in Henan province.
The company further said that this expansion would boost Henan Mobile’s coverage and capacity in the province. Rural areas in the region would be the biggest beneficiaries of this development.
Nokia would be supplying a GSM/GPRS radio and core network and in addition provide support and network management systems.
The deliveries of these products begin immediately and the expansion is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
The company faces competition from rivals like Ericsson, Motorola, Huawei Technologies and ZTE Corp. in the region and a deal like this would help them showcase their capabilities to other players in the market. China Mobile of course is the largest mobile network provider in the region.
