PowerGrid to become a National Long Distance service provider
Government owned power company PowerGrid Corporation Limited has now received their own National Long Distance license.
This move would help the company to enter into the growing telecom market in India. The agreement for this license was signed on between PGCIL and DoT officials.
PGCIL said in a statement on this development: “In the post NLD period, the company is eyeing more options and opportunities in terms of customer segments, increase in customer base and providing value-added services to the customers directly.â€
The company plans to start providing these services to various corporate and government agencies in the near future. This new license would allow them to better utilize the infrastructure available with them throughout the country.
