Legal actions against Sify Broadband

I suffered the bad services provided by Sify Broadband for around a year’s time before I decided to move to Gurgaon to get myself an Airtel Broadband connection. Looks like the services of Sify Broadband back in Chandigarh are as bad as they were during my stay there almost 1.5 years back.

As per latest incoming information, the Consumer Forum in Chandigarh has directed M/s Sify Broadband Limited, Sector 34-A, Chandigarh, to pay an amount of Rs 6,600 to a local resident Col Pritpal Singh Bhatia.

This fine is on account of compensation and service that was not provided to the complainant. This is great, as this would result in more consumers taking the same route to get compensated for poor services provided by Sify Broadband in the region.

The forum held Sify Broadband guilty of deficiency in service and they have directed the company to pay Rs 5,000 as compensation and Rs 1,770 paid by Bhatia for the connectivity, which was in the end never provided to him as promised.

I am also fed up with Sify broadband. My connection expired on 22nd October 2007. Since then I have made more than 100 (I mean it – more than 100 ) calls to the customer care.
I have received many responses from the Sify Customer Care. Here are some of them :

1: The customer care told to contact the local provider. The number for the local provider given by the Customer Care was always switched OFF.

2:The customer care gave me the address for the local provider. You will never be able to locate the local provider from the address which was given to me by the Customer care. However, I managed to find the local provider. The local provider told me that my account will be renewed by tomorrow (i.e. October 28, 2007). Today is November 18th and I am still waiting for my account to be renewed.

3: Once I was told to buy a renewal card from a “Sify i Way” center. I went to the “Sify i Way” center to get the renewal card. But they told that they dont deal with it. I explained the shopkeeper very clearly what exactly I mean by the renewal card. Still the same answer i.e. “NO”.

4: I received SMS on my mobile to send the SMS as “RENEW” to get the account renewed. For your info it costs Rs.3/SMS. I sent the SMS, but still waiting for my account to be renewed.

5: The most interesting part —- each time I call the customer care, the call ends like this(these are the words that the customer care executive tells me everytime before ending the call) “Sir, I have informed the concerned department and your account will be renewed in 12 hours”. I am still waiting since October 23rd, 2007, for the 12 hours to complete. Today it is November 18th, 2007. Still the account is not renewed.

There are many other bad experiences also that I have faced with Sify. Can anyone please tell me what can I do to get my account renewed. Is there any way by which I can take legal actions against the Sify.
If you have any suggestions please mail me at kms4u@rediffmail.com.

    Thanks,
    Krishna Sharama

    Hi,
Is there anybody in Mumbai to join me to file a case against sify. Please join me.

Here is the problem I faced.
    ————————————————–
I renewed my account on 19th November 2007. I used it on 20th night. on 21st morning when I tried to connect, it said ” Unable to connect to gateway”. So as I was quite hurry to move to office, I disconnected the cable and kept my laptop in locker and went to office. That day (21st Nov) after coming back from office, I used the net. But when I tried to connect on 22nd Nov(Just 3days after renew) morning, it said your account has been expired.

Shocked by this I referred my session details, it shows that I’ve used the net on 21st morning 8:00AM to afternoon 3:45PM and in that period my usage is 903MB. So the account got expired (As there is 150MB limit on which 1day will be deducted for every extra 25MB).

I’ve called customer care, mailed them stating my problem, they are just dumb. and still arguing that I’ve used net and downloaded 903MB. How can I fight back and teach them a lesson. As you’ve already won the case, you are the hope for us. Please help me.

    Thanks & Regards,
    pnrkumar
