British Telecom rated best broadband provider in UK
An internet survey has claimed that British Telecom is the best performing ADSL UK internet service provider.
The survey was conducted by internet testing firm Epitiro and they collected data on all the leading consumer ISPs in the UK.
They used a software application, which connected to services every 15 minutes to test various features. The survey tested download times and connection failures during these procedural testing.
Epitiro conducted these tests at around 10 locations in the country for a more reliable study of the quality of broadband services available in the country and they identified BT the top service provider. BT was followed by Virgin, Demon, AOL and Orange.
However, the research group did not consider the service provided by cable internet providers including the giants NTL Telewest.
Gavin Johns, managing director of Epitiro spoke on these tests: “Virgin, BT and AOL were the fastest services to actually connect to the internet, while Pipex, Orange and BT were up to four times faster than the industry average at delivering e-mail.â€
He further said: “It’s hard performance data and nothing else. That’s how we measure them and that’s how we rank them.”
