High Courts tell government to implement CAS before the end of the current year

In a significant development, the Delhi High Court has now instructed the government to implement the controversial Conditional Access System (CAS) in the three metro cities Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai before December 31 this year.

This decision was taken by a division bench headed by acting Chief Justice Vijinder Jain and Justice Kailash Gambhir. They have instructed the government to release a notification on this subject within a week’s time.

The center now has just around 22 weeks to get the things in order to launch CAS in three of the biggest cities in the country. They had already told the courts that they are indeed interested in implementing the Conditional Access System in the three cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. They just wanted more time and they now have it.
