Tata Sky aiming to get 1 million customers in first year of operation
Tata Sky is the latest player in the Indian DTH (Direct to Home) market. And the operators are claiming that they are on track to achieve their goal of taking in one million customers in the first year of operation.
The company has already roped in more than one lakh subscribers within 40 days of launch. Vikram Kaushik, managing director and CEO, Tata Sky said in a statement: “We have seen an astounding response; in fact there have been 17.5-million hits on our website in the first seven days. Right now we have 100,000 subscribers and we are right on track to hit the one-million mark in a year.”
The service is now offering eight Actve services like Actve Khabar, Actve Sports and the newly launched Actve Whiz Kids.
Kaushik added: “Our rates for now are Rs200 per month, without any hidden costs. We will increase it and it will be driven by market factors. Rates will be competitive, but I cannot say what exactly we will increase it to.”
Their primary competitor in this space is Zee’s Dish TV which has a subscriber base of around 13 lakh customers. Dish TV is aiming to double this number within this fiscal year.
