Hutch India under scanner for their Push to Talk service

The Indian government is scrutinizing a service launched by mobile service provider Hutch. The relevant authorities have asked Hutchison-Essar information on under what license was this service made available to the customer.

This service was stopped after objections were raised in early 2005. The government is looking into the facts to check if Hutch broke any of their licenses.

Department of Telecom (DOT) wrote in a letter to the company on this issue: “Please clarify under what license the push-to-talk service was offered by M/S Hutch group companies.”

Hutch has responded to this report by saying that they have indeed received this letter from DoT and they have responded back with the related information.
