BT Group applies for NLD & ILD licenses in India
BT Group has confirmed that they have applied for licenses to provide domestic and international long-distance telecom services in India.
They aim to serve both foreign companies setting up operations and Indian firms expanding offshore.
The company added that they are aiming at revenues of $250 million from their Indian operations by 2009. And they are also going to hire an additional 6,000 people over the next two years.
BT already employs 15,000 staff in Asia-Pacific and majority of them are working in India.
C S Rao, managing director at BT India added: “We would now have the ability to directly serve Indian companies that have a global presence and also multinational firms that have multi-site operations.”
