Bharti Airtel to provide Google search service to their customers
India’s largest private telecom operator Bharti Telecom has gone into collaboration with search engine giant Google. The company would now be offering Google’s search service to their mobile customers.
This move is expected to generate revenues for both Google and Airtel as the search pages feature advertising.
Airtel however declined to reveal figures on how many of their mobile service customers actually surf the internet from mobile devices.
Bharti Airtel President Manoj Kohli spoke about this deal: “Under the agreement, Airtel will provide ‘Google search’ through its portal to its mobile subscribers.”
He further said: “In India, the mobile growth has surpassed the growth of PCs. With this unique partnership, Internet will be converged into a handheld device enabling anytime, anywhere access to information and entertainment for Airtel customers.”
Google Vice President Asia Pacific and Latin America Operations Sukhinder Singh Cassidy added: “India is one of the fastest growing mobile markets in the world. This agreement with Bharti Airtel will help in bringing Google services to the mobile users in the country.”
