After Reliance, now Vodafone rumored to be interested in Hutch India
It is already a well known fact that Reliance is eyeing buying out Hutch operations in India. However, things are getting interesting here.
The latest available information states that Vodafone’s board is now considering putting their own bid for Hutchison Essar which is the fourth largest mobile service operator in India.
Vodafone is said to be considering putting in their bid at an impressive $13 billion. If the deal goes through, it would be the largest offer to buy an Indian company.
This would be yet another attempt from Vodafone to expand their operations in growing mobile markets around the world. India and china are two of the biggest potential markets for expansion and Hutch would be a nice buy for Vodafone.
Hutchison Essar is 67 per cent owned by Hutchison Telecom International and 33 per cent by Essar.
