Reliance Communications to invest big on FLAG Next Generation Network
Reliance might not be a major player in the consumer broadband market till now but they have some big plans for the future.
The company has said that they plan to build the world’s largest Internet protocol (IP) network over submarine cable systems.
And Reliance would be investing as much as Rs 7,000 crore over the next three years on this network.
This project has been named Flag NGN and it would require laying of 50,000 additional km of undersea optic cable covering 60 countries. This network would be capable of catering to customers across Asia, Africa, and the Mediterranean and trans-Pacific regions.
FLAG interestingly already has the world’s largest undersea cable system.
Anil Ambani, chairman, Reliance Communications spoke on this new development: “FLAG NGN will democratize digital access and give nearly everyone in the world the opportunity to be part of a massive lifestyle change.”
