Now Verizon rumored to be interested in Hutch in India
The Press Trust of India has reported that the US based mobile service provider Verizon is now interested in acquiring a stake in India based mobile service provider Hutch.
A Verizon spokesperson however said that the company does not comment on market speculations.
The report in the PTI cite industry sources as saying that the US based company wants to get a presence in the Indian market as it could be strategically important for them considering the American market is getting saturated.
Hutch is part of the Hutchison Essar group and it is the fourth largest mobile service provider in the country. The company is owned by Hong Kong’s Hutchison Telecommunications International and India’s Essar Group.
Vodafone and Reliance Communications are other two telecom companies already said to be interested in this deal.
