Tata Indicom Internet Services: More problems

A friend who is already using Tata Indicom phone services has his outgoing restricted since August 12 due to lack of payment of dues which were paid on August 10. 24 hrs, it is still blocked.

A friend who wanted a new connection got the instrument. Waited for 2 days for it to get activated. Then was informed that he got the wrong connection. They delivered him a phone that was meant for someone else. So, he will have to wait for more time to get the connection which he should have got within 1 day with activation in 8 hours.

I don’t know whether I, on Sify Broadband should consider myself lucky!

    I got a tata indicom internet pack for 100 hrs valid till 19.sep.05 , i found an user id and pass word given in a slip pinned inside the pack and i was unable to connect by using the login id with my present dial-up-networking , i have contacted the customer care number found in the same slip (9244403504)but voice replys switched off, i got this pack from AR shopee , periyanaickenpalayam , coimbatore – 20. on 14.mar.05 and my mobil no. 9894351044 , kindly do the needful.

    I wonder there is system of complnt number be give to the coustomer. Please inform me if Tata Indicom is going to solve this problem or customers are left high and dry?

    On 24/06/2005 again the usuage has exorbitant increased to 157.99
    which is just impossible as we are restricting our usage and monitoring
    on daily basis.
    Despite of our regular follow ups no action has been taken by
    Tata Indicom Broadband to findout what is the reason behind
    for such drastically increase?

    No technical person had contacted till now regarding this issue.

    Tata Indicom Broadband customer support people only
    say the standard message ‘Your complaint has been given
    someone will call you up with in 24 hours’.

    This is the support we hope from “TATA” a reputated name
    from which we are using the services.

    Kindly look into the matter immediately.

    i’m facing the same problem as you are. from the first day of connection itself its showing a high amount of usage without me using the internet at all.i’ve a 512 Kbps 1Gb line. everyday my consumption shoots to .1Gb.i’ve given a complain to them, but nobody has come to fix it.they say that its a virus problem.i’ve formatted the system and also loaded new antivirus. but i’m getting no relief from the exorbitant usage that it’s showing.in true words they’re frauds and cheaters, who want to eat the consumers money.it’s a shame that a leading company of india TATA is earning money through such unscrupulous means.its a shame and a disgrace.

    I bought a TATA Indicom walky phone at Gurgaon thinking that it would give an A -class service.But to my dismay, leave apart good service, in the last one and a half months, the phone has got locked 15 times on the one plea or the other. All documents have been provided yet the problem persists. Since 24 Sept, the otgoing calls have been barred. Towards this, the DSA of TATA phone keeps telling me on the several calls that I’ve made to him, that due to technical glitch, all outgoing calls from Fraidabad, Delhi, Guragon on Tata Indicom phones are out of order. But till today i.e. 26/9/05, I cannot make the outgoing calls. What a shady service? I’m not even informed about the address of Customer CAre Manager at TATAs when I ask the DSA.

    I have gone through each message here. I am planning to become authorised distributor for INDICOM Services in my area (near mumbai). And will try my best to provide the best what I can do from my end. BUT I am a bit scared about their support. Anyways … If i will become the distributor, I will try to see such problems. And will try my best to provide the best what I can do from my end. BUT I am a bit scared about their support. Anyways … If i will become the distributor, I will try to see such problems.     Latest Update:Recieved a call on 14/10/05 from Ms Suchi Tel No.55558807,advising that as the signals are very week in the area / address where the phone is installed therefore she would issue necessary instructions to get the instrument changed. This one would be with an additional antena thereby restricting our mobility of carrying the instruments from one room to another room. Despite agreeing to her lobsided offer till date it is a pathetic state of affair.If you peole are not in a position to handle the issue then just withdraw the services& refund the total amount with interest.

    Till 13/10/05 the calls were beeng available in the incomming mode . Now even that facility has been with drawn.

    Latest Update:Recieved a call on 14/10/05 from Ms Suchi Tel No.55558807,advising that as the signals are very week in the area / address where the phone is installed therefore she would issue necessary instructions to get the instrument changed. This one would be with an additional antena thereby restricting our mobility of carrying the instruments from one room to another room. Despite agreeing to her lobsided offer till date it is a pathetic state of affair.If you peole are not in a position to handle the issue then just withdraw the services& refund the total amount with interest.

    Till 13/10/05 the calls were beeng available in the incomming mode . Now even that facility has been with drawn.

    Sub: Harassment & undue charges

    This is in reference to my phone number 9212011402. This is a Nokia handset model number-6385. From 20th oct 2005 this handset has been showing a no service sign because of changing of some software or PRL number from your side. I took this handset to the bright point , which has put up an estimate of Rs 700 for up grading the software. I have the number of few other people who are using the same handset and are facing the same problem from the very same date. I also went to your customer care centre located at Okhla new delhi and met Mr. Pankaj Pandey who is working as the floor in charge, his phone number-9212502873. the person was very uncooperative and he kept on taking the side of the bright point without giving due consideration to this thing that I had brought the other person with me a who has been facing the same problem.
    Sir I had been a customer of Tata from last five years with almost 8 connections on my and my family members name. I had convinced many people to take up Tata connection for its honest and sincere Services.
    but to my utter surprise when this kind of cheating is taking place right under you nose, I’m very sorry to say that I’m losing faith in Tata.

    I hope some strong measures will be taken from your side to not only to stop such cheating and harassment of some honest customer’s like me. I’m also sending a copy of this letter to TRAI in order to look into the matter and stop such kind of harassment of ordinary customers.

    This is in ref to my phone no 9212604416from which I am unable to make 121 calls to customer care from last 2 weeks.I had put up almost 10 complaints regarding that but to my surprise till today the problem has not been sorted out from your end.

    This is an act of high inefficiency which shows the casual attitude of Tata to customers who are holding connections from atleast 5 years. Sir I think some immediate action will be taken from your side to rectify the problem at the earliest

    tata indicom is giving very unprofessional service.I booked a connection on 7th July.Cheque of Rs 1513/= was collected by co. within 2 days.Because of non-availaibility of connection,i cancelled my request and asked for refund on 15th September.But till today they have not refunded the amount . I have wasted so many telephone calls and time on them.Is anyone from TataIndicon listening??? Isn’t this height of unprofessionalism. Why should customers not approach Consumer Courts

    But i gets only 10 or 20 kbps…………..sometimes may be once in
    a month i get 60 or 70 kbps………

    I was using tata ind since june 2003. on around may’05 I got exchanged my mobile set to LG 5235 .The said handset had stopped working on 21-6-05 within a short period of about five weeks of its purchase.I immediately visited their N-10 office and and formerly lodged a complaint.I was asked to visit Authorised Service Centre (Arham Infotech Pvt Ltd), Regal Bldg., New Delhi; So I visited their said Authorised Service Centre, and who reported that the handset had a major fault of Main Board and that it was going to take minimum at least 2-3 days or more for the set to repair. But I wanted the set to be replaced with a new one as it had been purchased hardly about five weeks back. I further stressed that Iwas without the mobile service and the handset and that I am suffering a lot in his business financially. My mobile service has been disrupted/discontinued by TATA INDICOM due to the faulty handset delivered to him by the company itself despite paying monthly bills in full without failure.
    I purchase it becozcause I had seen the brochures of the company. Through such brochures, I was induced to purchase a handset. Such brochures contained misleading advertisements and induce public at large to purchase TATA INDICOM products which are not at all worthy of reliance.
    5. That instead of replacing the handset, I was shocked to receive reply that as per policy of the Company, handset cannot be replaced. It would be pertinent to point out that your reply is totally contrary to the Warranty Certificate, issued by your Company. Serial No. 3 reads as under:-
    â??DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD, SELLER OR ITS AUTHORISED SERVICE NETWORK WILL REPAIR OR REPLACE, AT SELLERâ??S OPTION, THE PRODUCT OR ANY RELEVANT PARTS THEREOF IN THE EVENT THAT THE PRODUCT IS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE.â??
    Thus to say that it is not the policy of the Company to replace the handset, is absolutely wrong and the Company has just tried to waylay the real issue of the provision of proper mobile service to our client. The above mentioned Warranty Certificate Condition clearly mentions that the Seller can replace the handset, if it opts to do so. Thus the policy of the Company can be moulded by it arbitrarily on its own whims and fancies, which is not at all warranted under the circumstances of the case, because the handset became completely unusable within a short period of about five weeks. Now I have sued them in consumer court .Plz give me more proofs

    I am also getting charged by Tata for useage that is not happening. Once when I was out of the country, my laptop was not here and the modem switched off – yet they showed useage for a number of days. Again over a couple of days that I noticed when my laptop again was not here. They sent a technical support person who claimed they had fixed the problem but the useage still showed up on my account. Now it has happened again a month later. It throws into question their whole useage procedure not to mention their follow up and communication between departments (billing & technical support) BEWARE… and check your useage carefully. I am not from India but I can only imagine that slowly through forums such as these and making demands from customer support services that SLOWLY people like Tata will learn to handle customers concerns more effectively – sadly they have a long way to go.

    Please do not buy Tata Indicom Plug to Surf modem. It has a bug in it. The data usage will be shown as very low in the modem, but your bill will show a higher usage. Also frequent disconnections will happen if you go for a data based plan. Tata Indicom is spoiling all the goodwill generated by Tata. Their customer service sucks and all the guys even at the nodal office are the worst I had ever faced. They never want to solve any of your problems, but just want to get off the phone immediately away from our grievences.

    I have been so harassed by the sheer callousness of the tataindicom people,that i have no words.Oh,actually,i have several words..none that the people i’ve spoken to will understand-because of just how mind numbingly stupid and incompetent they are.

    I paid a month ago,and since then,along with 4K,i lost all peace of mind and sanity.Have been calling their office 5 times a day,and they say they’ll call back,and obviously,don’t.If i go to the office,they say go to the main office.If i go to the main office they say go to the franchisee whom i paid.Excuses like verification failed because we called your residence number(which noone answered)and came for verification,so it got delayed,are given.Tell me,does it take a rocket scientist to figure out that if noone is answering the calls,there is noone at home?? Does one have to come over to verify that??Finally,after explaining(read screaming) our pitiable history with tataindicom to 15 different(but equally dumb and arrogant) “customer care executives” ,someone came to install the thing..but he didn’t get a demo tape,and claimed that he would come back tomorrow with it.Then some sales guy who is the “senior executive” whom i had spoken to in the afternoon(whose major flaw is his inability to answer simple yes-no questions)calls and reprimands me for not signing on a blank sheet and claiming that the demo tape is not necessary for installation.If i knew the nitty gritties of what stuff is necessary for installation i wouldn’t even need them now,would i?Isn’t the installation guy supposed to know?But no,i get yelled at by this sales manager or whatever,who isn’t responsible for my case but yet is taking interest.Who asked him to? I did not.I asked to speak to someone in charge.If he came and started talking to me,for me,he is in charge.Thats when i asked him who i could speak to who IS IN CHARGE,if he claims he isn’t,which is when he says talk to the franchisees again.I’m just caught in this web of lies,deceit and undue yelling at me,i don’t know how to get out of it.I’m sure they’re not going to give a refund,i know someone who got into tataindicom 2 years ago who still hasn’t got their refund.So now i’m financially drained,intellectually insulted,and tired of this crap.

    So,for the greater good of the public,i have now decided to defame tataindicom as much as possible,and stop others from getting into this mess.I googled ‘tataindicom internet service’ and came to this page.Has your friend got his/her connection? I’m looking to form a support group for the oppressed,and possibly start a mass tort against tataindicom.

    ok, my story with tata indicom internet is very simple or very critical. I have been told its a limited 199 pack….free between 8pm to 8 am…speed 256…i thougt great…because in any way i come back from office after or around 8…..i got the service….now i hv got a bill of 990….imagine….i rarely use internet before 8 (some hours in the weekends…) but can that take my bill to 900…..???

    The bill that i received does not have any detail into it…so i asked the sales guy who gave me the service (why I didnt ask customer service department?? Thats an another story…will write in the next paragraph)…so i asked the sales guy…who after consulting with his engineer friends (servicing guys are called engineers…fair enough…me not an engineer…i am sure engineering degree holders wont sulk)…so the sales guy after consulting with his engineer friend informed me about tataindicom.com. I logged in but could not get the itemised bill copy because it asks me to send an sms to 121 from my mobile….i could not get a response because i use vodafone, and tata management believes that everyone using their internet service will be having tata mobile…cool logic….

    Now coming back to customer service or call center. i have been told its a 24 hr call center…but friends, try calling them in 022-67908000 (bombay no) after evening and no one will pick up up ur phone…i tested my patience and even waited for one hour and fifteen minutes….no one bothered…if u dont have a tata mobile phone the number is not toll free…

    So, i went to office and try to speak with them in the normal office hours….yes…someone picked up after 15-20 minutes…..but she said she cant help me because i m not sitting infront of my computer…i told her i m in office….she said then go home and then call….i said i cant…she said ok call whenever u reach home…i said but u ppl dont pick up phones…i tried many times…she said we are 24*7 avaialble…i said ur sales guy told me to call at the day time becuase it seems no one is there at the office after evening…she said give me the sales guys name and phone number….i felt pity for the sales guy and did not inform her his name…anyway, after much cajoling and request, she agreed to send one ‘engineer’ to my place after office hours…the engineer came that night, checked the modem and said he cant do anything because he only checks the ‘Link’ light (there are 4 lights blink on the modem…power, link, data and lan)…so the specialized engineer went back. I prepared myself for another round of conversation for the next day….

    The service is also not good…link goes down pretty often. I am used to see ‘destination not recahable’on the pinbox…sometimes it goes normal after 10-15 minutes…sometimes not……….

    Tata Indicome Connection is worst connection. There is no timely service & always out of order. I advice not to take that connection.
