One caveat with the Airtel plan for 2 Mbps: your rate per pulse is usually higher than 1 Rupee for landline usage. In the case of the 2 Mbps Rs999 scheme, the rate is Rs. 1.10.
This is totally counter-intuitive and the sales rep as well as team lead were unable to give any logical explanation: my current 256 Kbps line also comes with landline. I pay Re 1 per pulse. So if I make an ISD call for 1 hour = 3600 seconds, I will be charged 360 pulses @ 1 Re = Rs. 360. However if I upgrade to the 2 Mbps line, I will be charged 360 pulses @ Rs 1.10 = Rs. 396.
This makes no sense: why should the landline costs go up when I upgrade my packet connection? When queried, the only reply I got was “Our package is like that only sir.”
Hopefully the Airtel marketing specialists realize this nonsensical pricing and restore the old prices for landline, while charging the premiums for higher bandwidth.
