BT Group gains licenses to provide traditional phone services in India
Britain’s largest telephone company BT Group Plc has confirmed in a statement that they have now gained the licenses to provide traditional phone services in India.
India is one of the fastest growing telecom markets in the world and provides an exciting opportunity for growth to BT.
BT Telecom India would now be offering nationwide long-distance and overseas telecommunications services to its global customers.
The company paid around 50 million rupees for these telephony licenses in the country. Edelweiss Capital’s Panja spoke about BT’s Indian plans: “India is increasingly becomes an outsourcing base and a people-centric operation for many global companies, so it makes sense for BT to offer services to its international clients here. BT’s cost of operations may reduce because now it will not have to pay third-party charges to local carriers.”
