MTNL aims to double their mobile user base by 2008

Government owned telecom company MTNL has said in a statement that they are aiming to double their mobile subscriber base by next year.

The company provides their mobile services in Delhi and Mumbai, two of the biggest mobile markets in the country.

MTNL is currently working on expanding their facilities to meet this growing demand for their mobile connections.

The company currently has around 2.4 million mobile subscribers in the two cities they operate in. MTNL now plans to have an additional capacity of two million mobile connections in Mumbai and Delhi by 2007-08.

In comparison, the other government owned Telecom Company BSNL is aiming at adding 3 million mobile-subscribers monthly over the next three years to reach a mobile-subscriber base of 108 million.

They operate in the entire county except for the two cities Delhi and Mumbai which are served by MTNL.
