Bharti Airtel now has the highest average revenue per user in India
This is big news for the largest private sector telecom company in India Bharti Airtel. The company has now emerged as the leader in the market in terms of average revenue per user (ARPU).
Hutch used to be the market leader in this factor. The company is undergoing an acquisition by UK based telecom giant Vodafone.
Market sources say that Hutch had the largest ARPUs amongst private operators until the third quarter of the current fiscal year.
However, they suffered a lot in this period dropping their ARPU by over 9% in the quarter ended December 2006. In comparison, Airtel saw a drop of just around 1.5% in their ARPU.
BPL and Spice are the only two players in the market to have shown improvement in this figure for their customers.
