Bharti Airtel lowers international calling charges
Bharti Airtel is the largest private sector telecom company in India and they have announced reduction in the call charges for international calls.
This reduction in charges is for their mobile customers and part of their aim to make international calling more affordable.
The company said that they are helped by the recent ruling by TRAI which has resulted in 37% reduction in Access Deficit charge (ADC) for 2007-08.
The new rates were applicable starting April 1 and they are now able to offer these cheap rates for international calls.
TRAI has incidentally also abolished the levy of 80 paisa per minute on all outgoing international calls.
Airtel said that the new charges for making International calls to USA, Canada, Europe (Fixed Line), Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and New Zealand would be Rs 6.40 per minute.
For calling Gulf, Europe (Mobile), SAARC countries, Africa & Rest of the world the new tariff will be Rs 9.20 per minute compared to the old rate of Rs 9.99.
