Motorola dropping lawsuit against BSNL in India

US based mobile phone maker Motorola has said in a statement that they are going to drop a court case against the Indian telecom company BSNL.

Motorola had filed the lawsuit claiming that the company unfairly disqualified them from bidding on a large contract.

As a result, the courts in India had temporarily stopped BSNL from awarding the contract worth around $5 billion to Sweden-based Ericsson AB.

Motorola was incidentally disqualified from the bidding process on technical grounds.

The project was related to lying down of phone lines and supplying the company with advanced telephone equipment.

Motorola added in their statement on this development: “Withdrawal of the case by Motorola in no way reflects any change in Motorola’s original position that its bid was in compliance with the tender conditions.”
