TRAI wants Indian ISPs to support the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI)
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has said in a statement that they want all the internet service providers in the country to route their traffic through the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI).
TRAI said that they are concerned over the under-utilization of National Internet Exchange of India and they believe that the ISPs in the country could cut their expenses by routing their traffic through this network.
TRAI stated in their recommendations that the ISPs can either connect to NIXI or with the international Internet bandwidth providers through direct peering links. They are also recommending compulsory acceptance from all routes at NIXI nodes.
The authority further stated that as per their surveys, the overall customer satisfaction level in the Indian telephony segment was poor.
