Vodafone and Bharti to launch operations in Channel Island in Europe
Vodafone might have become a major challenger to Bharti Airtel in India as they are acquiring Hutch but they are still working with them in other markets.
Vodafone and Bharti have signing an agreement to provide 2G and 3G services in Channel Island in Europe. They would provide their services under a common brand name ‘Airtel-Vodafone’.
Their services would be offered to mobile customers in Jersey and Guernsey. The licenses for these markets were given to Jersey Airtel and Guernsey Airtel, which are subsidiaries of Bharti Enterprises.
Vodafone had also signed on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bharti over two months back for India. The two companies are collaborating on significant areas including infrastructure sharing, roaming and long distance services in India.
Vodafone has added that Bharti would be their preferred vendor for national and international long distance and leased line services.
