Airtel working with UTStarcom to launch IPTV in India
Bharti Airtel has announced that they are going to work with UTStarcom to launch their IPTV services in the Indian market.
They would begin by launching their IPTV services in the national capital by this year-end. Market sources suggest that UTStarcom would be offering the technology assistance to Bharti to launch IPTV services.
Airtel is already testing their IPTV services in limited regions in Delhi NCR. The company plans to provide around 150 television channels in Delhi and NCR by the year-end.
Sriram, VP- Technology, Bharti Airtel added in a statement: “We are already carrying out the IPTV trials with our broadband subscribers. This is on a trial phase now, which will be commercially available to our customers by December.”
He added that they are going to directly tie up with the TV channels to offer more than 150 channels. Sriram added: “The investment is significant”.
