NTT DoCoMo revokes Hutch’s i-mode Internet access service license
Japan’s largest mobile service provider NTT DoCoMo has said that they are now revoking the license they gave to the Indian mobile service provider Hutch for their i-mode internet access service.
This decision has been taken after Vodafone Group agreed to buy a controlling stake in the Indian operator. The UK based mobile service provider agreed in February this year to acquire 67 per cent stake in Hutchison Essar which is the fourth largest mobile service provider in India.
Vodafone has already received the approval from India’s Foreign Investment Promotion Board for the 11.1 billion dollar purchase.
NTT DoCoMo said in a statement on their decision to revoke the license: “The business environment of Hutchison Essar has changed, which makes it difficult.”
