TDSAT asks TRAI to implement a regulated pricing formula for DTH service providers

The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has requested the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India to implement a regulated pricing formula for the DTH service providers in the country.

The aim is to put an end to the ever growing number of conflicts between the content and service providers. The user also ends up suffering as channels are removed from the service without any logical reasoning.

The TDSAT has now reminded the Trai to come up with a mechanism to control prices being charged by the DTH service providers. They already have a mechanism for prices on the channels being offered on the CAS platform.

TDSAT said in a statement: “Trai is not coming out with a price fixing mechanism on DTH sector. The basic differences between the broadcasters and operators still remain intact.”
