Nokia Siemens to help Idea expand in the Indian market

Idea Cellular, India’s sixth largest operator has announced that they have signed on a $500-million network expansion contract with Nokia Siemens.

The company said that this deal would help them to expand their capacity in six of its eleven existing circles. These circles are Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (East), Uttar Pradesh (West), Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

Idea added that the deal would enable them to expand reach to 6,000 new centers besides the existing areas.

The deal with Nokia includes supply and services of GSM equipment, intelligent network, value-added services and circuit packet core equipment.

Nokia Siemens India sub-region head Ashish Chowdhary added in a statement on this deal: “Deployment of products and technology will be done in India as soon as they are globally launched.”
