VSNL to expand their Wi-Fi network to include 1,000 hotspots
Tata Group owned Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd has announced that they are planning to tap the growth in Wi-Fi segment throughout the country by establishing more than 1000 hotspots.
The company currently operates around 250 hotspots around the country including at locations like major domestic and international airports, hotels, educational institutions, sports stadium, hospitals, chain of restaurants, coffee shops.
They are working with existing partners including Taj Group of Hotels, Le Meridien, Cafe Coffee Day, Barista, Manipal University and Wockhardt for this expansion.
The company further revealed that they have now joined the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), a leading global consortium of Wi-Fi service providers. They have now become the only Indian member to join the WBA ExCo board (Executive committee board).
