Sterlite Optical Technologies gets a mega order from MTNL
Sterlite Optical Technologies has announced that they have received a contract worth Rs 169 crore from Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd.
They would now be working on deploying broadband and metro Ethernet network in Delhi and Mumbai.
The project guidelines requires them to complete the network by 2009. The network should be capable of handling about five lakh broadband connections in these cities.
Sterlite Optical CEO and Director Anand Agarwal spoke on this new development: “Sterlite remains committed to facilitating the propagation of broadband in India and has developed the capability to provide these solutions for the telecom and broadband sectors. We are proud that MTNL has chosen us.”
Sterlite has already been working with MTNL in setting up the Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) core for them.
