The false sense of unlimited time period connectivity

Last few days have been enlightening. More Sify users have responded to this Blog and everyone has been just complaining. Complaining to me! And I am not even related to Sify… People, I am just one of you guys. And I think you know that. So, why not join me in the protest… Protest against bad service provided by the CTOs, protest against the false claims and promises. And protest against the new idiocy that they are throwing at us from next month! The crappy Sify Broadband Client.
Along with the speculation that Sify turns down the bandwidth tap after 700 Megs of data has been transferred on the shared connection… Another thing is very troubling to the users. Automatic Logout after a particular period of time… Sify claims it is a feature to protect users from misuse of accounts. But the fact is that everyone knows the truth. They are offering a dirt cheap internet connection package and they are stuck with it. People are downloading stuff all day long and considering the speeds are atrociously slow, everything takes a long time…… and Sify do not like it. So, they have programmed the system to log users off automatically after a period of time. Technically it is supposed to happen after user has stopped using the net. But as I have noticed and many other have agreed… The automatic logout happens irrespective of the net usage. And the reason is simple… Sify perhaps saves on a few bucks. We cannot leave our computers on with some big download queued… because system logs us out and downloads are stuck in between. We are not breaking any terms… the package promise unlimited time and unlimited download facilities as long as the usage is not commercial. And well none of us runs a cyber café at home. We just like to download stuff. And that’s what we pay for. And they cannot digest the fact.
I made a forum for Sify users to discuss and plan stuff. We can together sign a common protest form and send them to Sify asking for what we were told we would be given. A single person is practically helpless…
