Since last few days, I have noticed that I cannot download stuff from the internet using my regular download managers, though the download works fine using a browser. The download manager exits with the following error:

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Now, the file exist coz I can download them using my browser… And today when I tried to download SP2 through 3 different download managers with 5 different working links… I am getting pretty sure, it is Sify at work.

The interesting thing is, another user had the same problem who replied on an old thread. If you are a Sify Broadband user, I had like to get a response from you… Also, mention the city you are accessing Sify Broadband from!

Well friend your fear seems to be true. I have renewed my broadband connection today & in the past 3 hours I have not been able to download Real media player from download.com using any of the three famous Download clients. It is a matter of concern as is already blogged with the poor customer service issues not handled in a meticulous manner. If plans to become the first Pan Indian Broadband service provider then it has to overcome such quality & service issues or it would just remain to be a potential broadband player who lost out on its steam midway because of the fact that it is ignoring its customers.

tried again with little success. i am in panchkula actually and i will try to find a client on my local network who uses sify. :) that will help me establish the problem. my personal machine has gone through quiet a bit of torture due to my love for testing softwares. ;)

    Amazing
Sify called me… very helpfull this time, at least he sounded like it, but my experiences tell me not to b too positive

He asked my about my logout problem… i had to tell the truth that , i dont get it that much anymore but i do get it when i use a download accel.
He would look into and tahts was it

Ofcourse..it wouldnt be me if i didnt complaied about the sped but, the shared unlimited i have is just the way it is , between 2 and 5Kb/s
I couldnt stop myself to say that these speeds are from the 80's and is really pathetic. but , it is no use to say that cuz, it is the way it is.

I wish i had an alternative cuz, sify has a really bad service, what they offer is just tooo low.

The first ISP that offfers only 1kB/s more is the one i will take in the future
Too bad i already know no other ISP will come where i live (totally south of Bangalore)

Shift and give a try to exatt net broadband connection but make sure that u r cable operator is not playing some role of blocking all the ports of P2P connection if he is then VSNL or direct cable connection are the only option's left 4 u all

  14. Sushubh | October 13th, 2004 at 06:29 am

i would have shifted on day 1 if there was any other provider in my area.

I recently purchased SIFY BROADBAND. It sucks (as usual), and this download thig is really killin me. I can barely download using my browser (forget download accelerators). I'm seriously pissed off. I almost completely have forgotten any kind of download from the internet thru the browser. I use lots of torrent downloads and p2p's now…
