BSNL to decide on the Ericsson GSM deal on Monday
Indian telecom giant BSNL has said that their board members are currently scheduled to meet on Monday to take a final decision on the controversial 45 million GSM line deal signed with Ericsson.
The company is also going to receive a report from a three-member committee, members of which were not a part of BSNL’s original tender evaluation committee.
Market sources said that one of the options they are likely to consider is scrapping the tender to issue a brand new one.
However, this would mean more delays which would hamper their expansion plans for the Indian market.
BSNL is already facing criticism from their workers for the delay in signing up for the contract. If the tender is scrapped, the workforce might go on strike.
