Vodafone Essar extends lead over BSNL
Vodafone Essar continues to extend its lead on BSNL as the government owned telecom company still cannot decide on the GSM tender to expand their presence in the market.
Vodafone Essar is now 2.33 million subscribers ahead of BSNL. The gap was smaller at 1.3 million between the two in the previous month.
These figures were released by the Cellular Operators’ Association of India (COAI). Vodafone Essar just recently overtook BSNL in terms of number of GSM Mobile customers.
Their position is expected to become stronger in the market as Vodafone invests more in India to expand their presence.
However, Vodafone Essar is struggling to compete against Airtel which continues to remain the largest mobile service provider in the market.
