Zee Dish TV to offer 200 channels in coming months

Zee Dish TV is already managing to win more customers compared to Tata Sky DTH as they are offering more channels and better schemes.

The company is now going to become even more competitive as they are now planning to add more channels in the next couple of weeks.

Zee aims to offer as many as 200 channels in the next couple of months. This is going to be further expanded to 400 channels by next year.

Dish TV managing director Jawahar Goel said in a statement: “We plan to offer about 400 channels by next year. This would be both Indian and international channels. Currently, we offer about 170 channels and plan to take it up to 200 channels in the next 4-8 weeks.”

The market is going to become more crowded with both Reliance and Airtel launching their DTH services in the coming months.

This is bull shit, as Dish TV does not have the transponder capacity, unless they go in for MPEG4 box, in which case they will have to spend over $100 mn more.

Zee can give as many channels as it wants however it can never match the quality of Tata Sky. Tata Sky is the best DTH operator there is and although Zee Dish TV may have severe competition from Reliance, Bharati, etc… Tata Sky will be unaffected and shall keep adding subscribers at great speed. For those who do not know, Tata Sky now has the distinction of achieving 1 million subscribers in just 11 months, the fastest ever by any DTH platform in the world. Just by adding channles, the subscriber base will not increase for Dish TV, they have a horrible reception as well as most of the channels they show are unwatchable or channels which customers are not even interested in. Dish TV 2/10; Tata Sky 11/10 - That is what the difference is.

I agree with Sunil. Dish TV has no standing as compared to Tata Sky and we all know the reputation of Zee group compared to the Tata group, so I rather not comment on that front. Zee has in fact no choice but to keep increasing its channels and that too complete nonsensical channels because after 3 years in the market and that too being the only DTH service provider for the first 2 years, it has got 18 lakh subscribers whereas in 11 months TS has got 10 lakh subscribers. Tata Sky rocks, it is for sure going to kick Dish TV out of this market.

The consumer is smart enough to make the right choice and by no means would a sensible person opt for Dish TV when Tata Sky is in the market. Apparently as per market reports, after Tata Sky started its service, it has till today got 10 lakh subscribers whereas in competition with Tata Sky, Dish TV managed just a miniscule amount of subcribers. Tata Sky rocks, it is for sure going to kick Dish TV out of this market.

Not sure what you guys have been smoking. Products that survive in the market and products with content, and Tata Sky offers nothing. It’s a terribly poor company, with no real desire to keep customers satisfied. Dish TV is more responsive, despite not carrying the same clean marketing look. However, the industry as a whole needs to buckle up when you consider channels such as GOAL TV1,2, Neo Sports, Neo Sports Plus, etc. - which still aren’t options for DTH viewers. Surely, someone somewhere needs to understand that PPV or ala carte is the way forward.

I don’t know why peoples go for Tata Sky what is extra facilities in TS. Poor picture quality of all zee channels on tata sky Dish tv picture and sound quality is good. Tata sky have only active services extra but all are useless. 200 channels will help the Dish tv to adding more subscribers.

Either you people are Tatasky fanboys or their marketing studs. I use tata sky, it is as good as Dish TV no better than that. And the number of channels it offers litterally sucks, i hate to pay that 300bucks every month. Content is the king, i wish i would switch to Dish one day. ( if they introduce HD content i would jump immediately )

I’m using Dish tv for the past 2 years.. Tata sky is nothing before Dish tv.. The minimum monthly pay in TS is 200. But it is only 150 in Dish tv and it gives more number of channels.. Adding more channels in Dish tv will make more customers to it….

I’ve been using Dish TV for the past two years and till now I’ve not faced any problem. Just send payment thru SMS using ITZ card & forget….automatically you will sen in my info it updated. GREAT. The channels which Tata is showing are less viewed mostly channels are of no use. Where as if you see Dish TV new channel is launched ZEE next. This you cannot find in TATA. Dish TV controls TATA’s sale basicaly. As dish & Zee belongs to Essels Group. It only appears that TATA sky’s more viewed because they advertise more. So, TATA Sky customers you will realise after few months that you’ve taken wrong decision.
