Spice brings the technological “first” in the Indian Market

“The Spice Dual Mode Phone is here”

New Delhi, August 1, 2007

Increasing mobility, connectivity and competitive pricing has ushered in a mobile revolution in the country. India has been witnessing a steady growth in the mobile phone market and every year millions of new subscribers adds to this growing trend. From a family with one landline connection connected to the world till a few years back, today a typical Indian household will have a mobile phone for each member of the family including their support staff. And if one handset per person was not enough, increasingly many are toting around two phones, one for work and one for private use nowadays.

Riding on this growing trend Spice Mobile has introduced the SPICE DUAL Phone. Inbuilt with the option of two SIM cards the Spice Dual is a technological first from Spice Mobile in the Indian market. The Spice Dual comes with two variants – D-88 which supports both GSM + CDMA active connections at the same time and Spice Dual D-80, which supports two GSM + GSM active connections. Utility and convenience personified, SPICE DUAL enables the user to make or receive calls from any SIM at anytime as well as receive and send SMS. The phone is targeted to all who have two cell phone numbers and have been looking for a convenience of carrying just one phone.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Kunal Ahooja, CEO, Spice Mobile Limited, said, “We as a company have a vision to be amongst the top five key handset players in the Indian market. In the past two years since we introduced our brand in India, Spice Mobile has achieved steady growth and has gradually built a footprint across the country. We understand the pulse of the market and are in sync with the changing trends and demand. The introduction of the Dual Phone is not only an indication of Spice’s belief in providing “more value” to consumers but also a commitment to bring forth technologically innovative products. The market scenario also prompted us to introduce the Dual Phone. It is estimated that around 8 per cent of mobile phone subscribers already owns two numbers and we do foresee this trend to grow as we move along. Moving forward, as a company whose mantra lies in being innovative we plan to introduce the ‘Movie Phone” with in-built DVD player and a sub 1000/- people’s phone soon.”

Aesthetic looks, sleek and slim the Spice Dual is attractively designed. Switching from one connection to the other is as easy as just pressing a button and the phone provides four basic operation modes GSM and CDMA dual; CDMA and GSM dual; CDMA only and lastly GSM only. Apart from its Dual facility, the handset also has a 1.3 Mega pixel Camera, which is capable of capturing High Quality Images, Special integrated Music & Video Player, Video Recording & Playing, 262000 TFT and a 2-inch vibrant Color screen, Expandable Memory. What more the phone comes in-built with a 256 MB memory card.

Priced at Rs. 9849/- (MRP), the D-88 is surely to excite the customers. So its time now to live two lives…personal and official. Manage two personalities and be a winner in the long race!!!! The D-80 (GSM+GSM) will hit the markets shortly.
