TRAI: Caller Line Identification Presentation charges to be optional for end user
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has some more good news for the telecom service users in the country.
The TRAI has now ruled that Caller Line Identification Presentation (CLIP) charges are not part of the basic tariff and the service providers would have to make it optional.
They have specifically stated that there was no justification in making CLIP facility a compulsory chargeable.
However, they did not mandated a cost-based tariff for CLIP facility provided by the telecom service providers in the country.
It said in its statement: “Examination by the authority showed that no significant amount of work is involved in presenting the caller line identity to the called subscriber and thus the incremental cost of providing CLIP facility is negligible.”
