Asianet Digital Television launched

Asianet Cable TV Service has launched their Asianet Digital Television service. The company is making use of a network of underground optical fiber cables.

These cables have been laid from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod.

They are currently providing around 120 channels. They are providing the customers with a digital head-end set up.

Thambi Joseph, Kozhikode regional manager of Asianet said in a statement: “Different from analogue telecasting, enhanced picture quality and stereophonic sound are the unique features of digital telecasting.”

The support for this new technology is being provided by US-based Scientific Atlanta.

The service is currently available at a monthly rent of Rs.199 plus taxes. Their analogue service is priced at Rs 165 plus taxes.
