I applied for an 8mbps connection on 23/11 on the 2222 combo plan. The phone was installed on 1/12. The wiring for the broadband was done on 2/12. The broadband was finally activated on 7/12. Guess the download speed on my 8mbps line.....

317 KBPS!!!!!

Stay away from Airtel folks. Looks like they provide 300+kbps regardless of whether you have a 512 kbps plan or an 8mbps one. No doubt they will soon be the first to launch 16mpbs broadband in India, with.... you guessed it.... 317 kbps download speed.

I'd take a higher bandwidth cap (or no cap at all) over high speed any day. It's sad that we can't have both.
BSNL's Home 1800/3000 plans with 10/20GB caps (upto 2Mbps) are far better, the "night unlimited" sure helps!
