Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited preparing to launch WiMax based services
Government owned telecom company BSNL has received the necessary approval to release a tender for WiMax services.
They would be using technology based on IEEE 802.16e version of WiMax standard. They are now scheduled to launch a tender worth around Rs 2,000 crore.
The aim is to launch services in 25,000 villages using this wireless technology.
The company is also likely to launch another tender worth around the same price for providing coverage to 70 cities.
WiMax is the next generation wireless networking technology which can be used to provide networking services over a larger area compared to Wi-Fi.
