VSNL Optimizes Asian SCCP Transport with the Addition of Two Signaling Transfer Points in India
Press Releases, VSNL November 21st, 2007
Company Now the Only SS7/C7 Gateway Provider with a Truly Global Physical Presence
VSNL, a leading communications solutions provider, announced today the company will significantly improve intra-region signalling connectivity in Asia with the integration of two additional Signalling Transfer Points (STPs) in Mumbai and New Delhi to its global SS7/C7 network. The new STPs will enable Asian mobile operators to locally connect and utilize the VSNL Signalling Connect Control Part (SCCP) service to transport roaming and SMS traffic throughout the globe.
VSNL, the sole SCCP provider to operate STPs in Asia, Europe and North America, is currently the only International SS7/C7 Gateway Provider (IGP) with a true global physical presence. The addition of the Mumbai and New Delhi STPs enables VSNL to efficiently manage the routing of traffic without the need to unnecessarily route traffic across regions while reducing the number of points of failure.
“VSNL’s Asian STPs will support our customers in the Asian market by maintaining a truly ‘physical’ local presence on a global scale,” commented Stéphane É. Brisebois, Vice-President - Core Mobility Services, VSNL. “VSNL is dedicated to supporting our growing customer base by continuing to invest in the company’s signalling network as a critical platform for the growth of innovative value-added services.”
“Due to our broad network reach and access to innovative services, many customers are turning to VSNL for a growing range of mobile services,” said Allan Chan, Executive Vice President, Mobility Services, VSNL. “Our investment in these additional STPs reiterates VSNL’s commitment to the continued development of its world class signalling network, providing a solid foundation for the enablement of innovative new services for our MNO customers.”
VSNL currently has six signalling transfer points spanning three continents. The newly launched STPs will provide localized intelligent routing, reporting and troubleshooting to a growing list of operators throughout Asia.
VSNL provides a comprehensive suite of mobile services and unsurpassed coverage to more than 630 mobile operators in over 225 countries. With intelligent routing and enhanced value added services such as steering of roaming, managed messaging and enterprise mobility solutions, all supported by sophisticated monitoring, reporting and management tools, VSNL enables more than 30 percent of the world’s GSM subscribers and is the IGP to a fast-growing list of over 140 MNOs – more than any other signalling provider.
