Reliance Communications allowed to start GSM services in 14 circles
Indian government has now given its permission to Reliance Communications to start GSM-based services in 14 circles.
Reliance Communications is currently a major player in the CDMA market and they are now aiming to enter the GSM market in a big way.
The government said that they are making the necessary changes in the Unified Access Services License (UASL) to allow for Reliance to enter the GSM market.
Incidentally, Reliance already has a minor presence in the GSM market as they provide their services in eight circles.
