Alcatel gets a deal from Reliance Communications
Alcatel has announced that they have now signed on a deal to develop an IP-enabled trans-Pacific undersea cable for Flag Telecom.
This project is part of the expansion plan for FLAG Telecom which they announced last year. Alcatel would help them add 50,000 km of optics to its existing 65,000 km of undersea cable network across the globe.
A Reliance spokesperson spoke about this deal: “Worldwide, the global market for enterprise and institutional data services is worth $90 billion (Rs 3,60,000 crore). With completion of this next generation network cable, FLAG will be the only service provider to reach over 60 countries on a private cable system”.
This happens to be the second major deal signed between the two companies. They had earlier developed the $400 million Falcon undersea cable for Reliance Communications.
