83 lakh new mobile service subscribers in India last month

83.20 lakh new mobile service subscribers were added in the Indian market last month.

This was an improvement from an addition of 80.05 lakh new subscribers in the previous month this year.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said in a statement announcing these figures: “The total wireless subscribers including GSM, CDMA and WLL(F) base stood at 22.55 crore at the end of November 2007. However, in the wireline segment, subscriber base has declined to 3.93 crore in November as against 3.94 crore in the previous month.”

As per official records, India now has around 26.48 crore mobile subscribers.

Bharti Airtel the largest mobile service provider in the India itself added around 20.53 lakh new connections in November. They now have a total subscriber base of 5.29 crore mobile users.
