TRAI mandates it for telecom companies to provide free hard copy of the bill
TRAI has now said that all telecom companies in India would have to provide hard copy of the bill free of cost to its post-paid subscribers.
This new order is effective immediately and would cover all types of tariff plans of mobile — GSM and CDMA — and fixed line services.
They had for this initiative proposed an amendment to Telecommunication Tariff Order earlier this month.
TRAI said that this was necessary considering all the other service providers in fields like power, gas, water utility do not charge for providing hard copy of bills.
The hard copy is also essential considering not everyone has access to the computer with an internet connection to check the details online.
