Reliance Big TV now in testing with 60 channels

Reliance has finally started its Big TV DTH service in test phase. At the moment they have around 60 channels.

The service is currently available only to the employees of the company and they have been providing the equipment at very aggressive prices.

Reliance is giving out the Set Top Boxes for just Rs. 1000. Market sources believe that the prices are unlikely to change for the commercial launch as the company aims to take away customers from rival DTH players in the market.

They are also expected to offer packages with 300 channels at time of public launch.

Market sources further claim that the company has acquired technologies which can help them upgrade the existing set top boxes provided by rival companies to use their services in the future. However, only time will tell if they would succeed in challenging Tata Sky and Dish TV in the Indian market.
