There ought to be a limit to shameless business conduct

I have decided to restart this Blog on Sify Broadband to express further regret that instead of getting better, their level of customer satisfaction is dropping day by day. I hear and find myself new facts everyday. So, here are some facts for you to consider before you think of getting yourself a Sify Broadband connections…

Ankur Raheja is filing a court case against them for unfair business practices. Contact him if you want to help or know more.

They charge 3000 bucks for installation (I myself paid 3500 INR) and then expect you to pay maintenance fee that is nowhere mentioned on the product plan pages. Sify knows about it and does not do anything

Pings to external sites are blocked. Earlier they blamed on me using a firewall now admits it is a policy to block them. So, if your job includes monitoring site’s condition forget Sify Broadband.

The new client is pathetic. Takes precious RAM takes too much effort to login and logout.

Where is broadband? I do not see it anywhere on their product plan. The only plans with broadbandish speeds are the ones, which cost your Rs. 2.50 per megabyte.

They still think they are doing a good job. I get this from a Sify representative from Chandigarh on phone.

For me:
Since last 5 days throughout the day, the local network gives me 20% data loss. Sify people come and go but it does not get fixed. They are still unable to find the fault.

My package 48kbps+ shared gives me 2-3 KBps speeds for most of the time. There is apparently a 75megs a day download limit, which I did not see on their website. They do not promise any minimum speeds on this package but fail to mention that on the product plan page.

My CTO does not pick up the phone. A representative picks up the phone and uses expletives for Sify guys that I would not like to repeat here.

Sify Chandigarh Customer Care believes I am being unreasonable asking for support after 3 days the network has remained down. He says things like this take time to fix. 5 days? In that time, BSNL will get you a new telephone connection and it is a government organization.

Im sure they will say that they have also fast speeds
Then i am gonna ask if this guy has such a connection.. im sure he will say no cuz it is TOOO pathetic for words..who can afford a renewal ever few weeks (days) of several thousands of rupees?
With these speeds your limit is reached in no-time.

I even suspect fowl play with the new 2.51 “enhanced” version. Its automatically getting me disconnected when ever I am trying to download anything big (10-15meg). I would seriously want to reverse engineer the new client when I find time. On Linux I am being forced to run the b**ch `sifyconnect’ client as root! Those incompetent a** ho**s can’t write a decent peice of software. While they call themselves the fourth largest software co. of India! Its a shame…

The Sify broadband service is really pathetic. The GNU client is so troublesome to use, it does not connect when I am not logged in as a superuser or root, though the helpfile says that root authentication is required only for the first time when u install the client. Broadband service in India is useless on a whole, there is no operator offering good speeds at reasonable prices. The customer support is equally frustrating, they dont know anything. The moment I say that I am not able to connect, they ask me to click on Start, click on Run, and type ipconfig…. What the hell? I am using Fedora Core 2.. How on God’s green earth am I supposed to find a Start and a Run on my desktop. And when I tell them that I am using Linux… they ask me to click on the Troubleshoot icon.. There is no Troubleshoot icon on the Linux client…. These guys dont even know how their company’s stuff works. Since the MTNL service has started, I hope that these guys start offering better service, or else they will start losing out customers.

I agree. I am damn frustrated. In our locality it works for pathetic 3 days a week. Everytime I try to reach their customercare - hold times are real high. Simply makes you go bonkers. Even after they do receive call - THEY DO NOT DO ANYTHING.
I dont know Why the **** I paid for it in the very first place. I am planning to switch to MTNL or some other provider.
And yes sometimes they did charge me for 128 K and package update was 96 k and connectivity speeds were approx 72 k.
    Man, Sify Sucks.

The Sify lunatics ought to go2 their nursery english teacher & ask wat an ‘unlimited acc’ is supposed to imply. She’l probably tell em to stop being such dolts & try to strain their lobotomised heads once in a while.
Mayb a dictionary wud help em. & to help em comprehend whats written in it - they shud sodomize themselves with it for optimum penetration in their buttockal brains!!!!

Hey!! Guys …. I think Sify has improved a lot…. I am talking about 2006 … I am using Sify connection in Chennai. They have a very good package where the download is really unlimited on a 256 K pack !!! This package is valid between 10:00 PM & 8:00 AM, aimed at Youth, who prefers to browse at night after their daylong activities. There are times when over a night I downloaded some 900 MB of data. Also this package offers 150 MB of free data at day times too on weekends. Its really a superb package !!! I recommend this package for all my youth friends.

    Regards,
    Jyotirmay.
