Government wants RIM to put Blackberry servers in India

Indian department of telecommunications has now asked Blackberry maker RIM to setup their servers to host email in India.

This message was delivered in a meeting attended by DoT officials, security agencies, company executives, Canadian High Commission representatives and telecom operators.

It added that the telecom service providers in the country providing Blackberry services supported the DoT’s demand.

RIM is said to have asked for some time to respond to this demand made by the DoT.

Apparently, the mails sent from one Blackberry to another skips the Indian servers and are not monitored by the Indian security agencies.
