Sunil Mittal: MVNO model won’t work in India
Bharti Group Chairman Sunil Mittal has said in a statement that he does not believe that the concept of mobile virtual network operator would work in the Indian market.
The rates are already so low that any player who wants to offer services through MVNO model would find it hard to generate much revenue.
He said: “With the kind of low tariffs we have in India, I don’t think MVNOs can succeed.”
Incidentally, the rules in India currently do not allow companies to operate telecom services through this mode.
